My Favorite Sunscreen

Applying sunscreen is probably the number one most important thing you can do for your skin. I can't tell you how many times I hear "Well I'm not in the sun very much." Even if you don't spend very much time in the sun, you are still exposing your skin to harmful rays just by walking to, or sitting in your car. Your skin is also exposed to UVA and UVB rays through windows and sky lights. So just because you don't necessarily spend time in the sun, it is important to protect yourself every day from the damaging effects of the sun.

UVA and UVB... What do they mean?
In a nutshell, UVA and UVB stand for Ultraviolet- A and Ultraviolet-B solar rays. UVA has a shorter wavelength than UVB and can penetrate the skin more deeply. Both UVA and UVB rays can be damaging to the skin causing fine lines and wrinkles, loss of elasticity, hyper pigmentation, and in the worst cases, basal and squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. It is important that your sunscreen is broad-spectrum, meaning that it protects you from both UVA and UVB rays.

My favorite product is Jan Marini's Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant SPF 30. Not only is it broad-spectrum, but it also has antioxidants in it that will help to repair any damage that has already occured. It absorbs right into the skin, leaving it feeling silky smooth, not heavy or oily. It is so lightweight that you can't even tell that you have it on. It is also awesome for people who feel a bit oily (especially in the summer) because it actually has micro-sponges in it that helps to absorb excess oil! And to top it off, it doesn't smell like traditional sunscreen. Love it!!
Jan Marini also has tinted SPF Protection is a couple different shades that are sure to give you a sun kissed glow without the damaging effects of the sun!!
